Accessibility Strategy Development
To provide an effective level of accessibility, inclusion and barrier-free access in the design, delivery and operation of any building, structure or facility, an integrated accessibility strategy is essential.
Vortex Access develops accessibility strategies to establish a coordinated framework for integrating accessibility and universal design across the project lifecycle. The strategy supports the creation of environments that can be accessed, understood and used safely, independently and with dignity by the widest range of users.
A poorly developed accessibility strategy can result in fragmented access, inaccessible user journeys, non-compliance, costly redesign, operational limitations and exclusion of People of Determination (persons with disabilities) and other diverse users.
The accessibility strategy combines universal design principles, code compliance, pan-disability coverage, user-centred planning, inclusive operations and measurable performance outcomes. It ensures accessibility is addressed not only as a technical requirement, but also as a practical user experience across arrival, entry, movement, use of facilities and emergency egress.
The strategy considers the needs of users with mobility, vision, hearing, speech, communication, cognitive, intellectual, neurodiverse, sensory, mental health, neurological, health-related and multiple disabilities. It also considers elderly people, children, pregnant women, parents with strollers, people with temporary injuries, bariatric users, visitors carrying luggage and users from different language or cultural backgrounds.
